Elegant Piece

Elegant piece, or Elegant Piece, manuscript written in pencil on a four-page sheet of white manuscript paper (PWM−12), measuring 210×295 mm. The music, in one part (apart from one bar in the second line), with functions added below, is written on pages 2 and 3, between staves 2 and 12. Staves 3, 6, 9 and 12 on the second page (on which the title is repeated above the first line: Elegant piece and T. Stańko) were omitted, and on the third page the music was written on the odd-numbered staves, with the even-numbered staves left blank. Inscribed on the title page: Elegant piece above the fifth stave, with Muz. T. Stanko above that, to the right. There are no deletions or corrections in the music except for the first and last bar on the first page, which bear traces of rubbing-out. The manuscript is in very good condition. This work was composed before July 2003 and released at the beginning of a set of variations on the disc Suspended Night (ECM Records, 2004).
