Tomasz Stańko.Archive

Tomasz Stańko.Archive is a platform with archive material from the life and work of this outstanding Polish composer, trumpeter and band leader.

The first instalment consisted of autograph music manuscripts of selected compositions from various periods in Stańko’s life, which were digitalised and made available as photographs and faithful transcriptions (in two formats).

Continued work on the archive in 2022 has expanded the collection with new works, providing an even more representative cross-section of the artist’s output. Besides traditional scores, the collection also includes inspirational graphic scores from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

From the presentation of the musical autographs, we are now entering the next stage in the expansion of the platform’s functionality. This year we are making available photographs of an exceptional collection of instruments: Tomasz Stańko’s trumpets.

Thanks to the kindness of ECM Records and with the support of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, these manuscripts are made available free of charge for educational and scholarly purposes. The original manuscripts are part of the Tomasz Stańko Foundation collection, established and run by the artist’s daughter, Anna Stańko.

This selection, representing a cross-section of more than 50 years’ work, lifts just a corner of the veil, but it already delights and amazes the listener with its unique riches.
